MOSCOW, Nov 26 (PRIME) -- Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein have discussed prospects of energy  cooperation in the OPEC+ alliance, the Energy Ministry said in a statement on Thursday following a meeting between Shulginov and Hussein.

“During the meeting, the sides discussed current and promising energy projects of Russian companies in Iraq in general, cooperation in the oil and gas sector and upgrades of power facilities,” the statement read.

Shulginov said that combined investment of Russian companies in the Iraqi fields exceeded U.S. $10 billion.

“Work under the declaration of OPEC+ cooperation also plays an important role. I would like to thank the Iraqi side for constructive work in the framework of OPEC+ and for the efforts to stabilize the oil market. Taking into account active participation of the Iraqi side, we will continue building constructive dialogue,” Shulginov said as quoted by the ministry.
